COMPLIANCE:

Norton Industries products are 100% recyclable and could all be diverted from a landfill with proper arrangements. |

INTENT:
|
Increase demand for building products that incorporate recycled content materials, thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials. |

REQUIREMENTS:
|
Use material with recycled content such that the sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the pre-consumer content constitutes at least 10% (based on cost) (MR 4.1) and an additional 10% (MR 4.2) of the total value of the materials in the project. |

INTENT:
|
Increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. |
|
REQUIREMENTS:
|
Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% (based on cost) (MR 5.1) and an additional 20% (based on cost) (MR 5.2) of the total materials value. |
|
COMPLIANCE:
|
Norton Industries products are manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio, and when qualifying for the credit, use forest within the required geographical area. |

1 POINT EACH | MR Credit 6.0 | Rapidly Renewable Materials
|
|
INTENT:
|
Reduce the use and depletion of finite raw materials and long-cycle renewable materials by replacing them with rapidly renewable materials. |
|
REQUIREMENTS:
|
Use rapidly renewable building materials and products (made from plants that are typically harvested within a ten-year cycle) for 2.5% of the total value of all building materials and products used in the project, based on cost. |
|
COMPLIANCE:
|
Norton Industries offers many solid species and veneers within a ten-year harvest cycle. |

|
|
INTENT:
|
Encourage environmentally responsible forest management. |
|
REQUIREMENTS:
|
Use a minimum of 50% of wood-based materials and products, which are certified in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) Principles and Criteria, for wood building components. |
|
COMPLIANCE:
|
Norton Industries is F.S.C. Certified and can use F.S.C. solid woods and veneers on many products. Our F.S.C. Certification number is BV-COC #080411. |
INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY LEED CREDITS

INTENT:

Reduce indoor air quality resulting from the construction/renovation process in order to help sustain the comfort and well-being of construction workers and building occupants. |

REQUIREMENTS:
|
Develop and implement an Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Management Plan for the construction and pre-occupancy phases of the building. |
|
COMPLIANCE:
|
Norton Industries products have no reported V.O.C's in our finished products. |

1 POINT EACH | EQ Credit 4.1 + 4.2 | Low-Emitting Materials: Adhesives & Sealants Paints & Coatings

INTENT:
|
Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants. |
|
REQUIREMENTS:
|
All adhesives and sealants used on the interior of the building (defined as inside of the weatherproofing system and applied on-site) shall comply with the requirements of the reference standards. Paints and coatings used on the interior of the building (defined as inside the weatherproofing system and applied on-site) shall comply with set criteria. |
|
COMPLIANCE:
|
Norton Industries products have no reportable V.O.C's in our finished products or touch up kits. |
