Multiple Pyramid

Color diffusers can be used in any pattern, this page shows just a few ideas.
Concept
The Multi Pyramid Illuminated ceiling system consists of a special extruded aluminum grid which is field connected by means of a die cast junction fitting to form tangent pyramids. Pyramids may point upward or downward or alternate to the designer's taste. The grid structure forms triangular openings which receive translucent matte white or colored acrylic luminous diffusers. The diffusers are lit from above by standard fluorescent strips. Decorative incandescent lamps or automatic fire sprinklers may be located at any exposed grid junction.

Modules
Standard module sizes are 2-1/2' x 2-1/2', 3' x 3', 4' x 4' and 5' x 5'. Special modules up to a maximum of 8' x 8' are available. Standard modules form a square with a junction fitting at each corner and one in the center of the module. Junction fittings are joined by grid members. The center fitting can be above the corner fittings forming an upward pyramid, "-U"; at the same elevation for a flat ceiling plane, "F"; or below forming a downward pyramid, "-D".

Grid
The modular nature of Multi Pyramid must be considered when an installation is designed. Main T-bar runner and cross runner webs are exactly on module lines. Any pyramid can be mounted in an upward or downward position.

Diffusers
The standard luminous diffuser is #S80A, .080" white translucent acrylic. A simulated wire glass pattern on the diffusers is a standard option. Many colors of translucent or opaque acrylic and even polished metal, fabric, wood veneer and acoustical panels are available.

Finish
The standard grid finishes are White, Bronze, Black and Silver Satin Polene. Special polene painted colors are available. Real wood veneer with clear lacquer finish also available.

Perimeter
The Pyramid Skylight designs require a transition detail and several typical conditions are shown using WA2 angle and PE3 beam.

Sprinklers
If automatic sprinklers are required, sprinkler heads may penetrate any exposed grid junction. Sprinklers, if required, must generally be placed both above and below the ceiling. Building codes should be consulted to determine local requirements.

Lighting
Standard open tube fluorescent fixtures, either strip or reflector style, are used in the plenum above the ceiling system. Care in the plenum and lamp center design should be taken to assure even illumination on the diffuser surface. Decorative incandescent medium base lamps, up to 75 watts each, can be placed at any grid junction member in #F-1 socket assembly.

Skylite Depth
The Multi Pyramid design is based on a 28° angle so that the depth of the pyramid is a function of the module. 2-1/2' x 2-1/2' = 17", 3' x 3' = 19", 4' x 4' = 26", 5' x 5' = 32". The lamps should be at least 6" above the pyramid.
